Open-Island, the crews
Every project has its crew and volunteers, partners, participants, the media and finally the audience or implementation partner. From the artistic point of view, Open-Island is a huge ongoing „Social Sculpture“, unfolding with, amongst and through all involved people and partners.
Open-Island developed through a series of artworks, projects, strategies and campaigns with each different crew and partners. We thank all involved people from the beginning until now: we weren´t here without your contribution, love and power!

the team and collective
The project is organized under the administration of the German organization „Makers For Humanity“.
The board members are Imke Eichelberg, Joy Lohmann, Stephanie Ristig and Alexander Stellmach.
The Makers For Humanity also are an open collective for change-makers of all disciplines. They meet annually at their MakersLab gathering on different locations.

„ZuKunst“-team, Hannover
The floating Open-Island headquarter is the motorized houseboat and coworking-space „ZuKunst“ in Hanover/Germany.
This is a local project by its own, managed by a sociocratic team with 6 main chapters:
„ZuKunst“ ist ein regionales Projekt in Hannover und Umgebung. Es realisiert nach und nach das 2019 konzipierte städtische Leuchtturmprojekt „Reclaiming Mittelland“. 2020-22 bauten wir in Maker-Camps mit Unterstützung von Förderern, Partnern und Freunden den 10×5 m Alu-Ponton Katamaran mit passender Motorisierung sowie ein 18qm großes „Tiny-House“ als Kajüte. 2023 startet nun das schwimmende ZukunftsLabor „ZuKunst“ an unserem innerstädtischen Ihme-Anleger in Linden. Als Community-Projekt laden wir engagierte Menschen ein, mit uns gemeinsam Kultur-, Bildungs- und Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte damit durchzuführen. > Details + Programm
Wir sind ein bunter, interdisziplinärer, generationsübergreifender Haufen und freuen uns über weitere Crewmitglieder der ZuKunst.
